Warbler Bird

The Warbler bird family consists of 109 different types of species that live in the America’s, 56 of these species live in United States alone. The only other bird that consists of more different types of species is the Sparrow, but the Warbler are considered the most exciting to watch. Out of these 56 types of Warblers that live in the United States, the east coast has twice as many as the west coast.

The majority of Warblers winter in the tropics, but a few like the Myrtle Warbler is one type of Warbler that will occasionally winter on the east coast. The Myrtle can be seen from north of Florida to northern Massachusetts . They will spend their time during the winter living in bayberry bushes and will also rely on back yard feeders for food. During this time seeing one may be you having a good eye, as the Warbler move south for the winter and with autumn plumage both the female and male Warbler tend to blend in with the surrounding foliage . The female are usually not as brightly colored as the male with the female being more of a dull color.

During the month of May as the Warbler birds head north, if you look closely you may see as many as 15 to 25 different species of Warblers high above in the trees as they rest for their northern trek.

Small by standards Warblers are best known for their slender and straight bills. They use this bill to catch their main food which are small insects. They will scour trees or they will catch them on the fly.
