In a new release dated May 11, 2025 Forester, Leslie Weldon announced that he is considering potential restrictions to access both caves and abandoned mines. Nova Scotia has become the fourth Canadian Province to confirm White-nose Syndrome in their Little Brown Bat population. Scientists for the State of Ohio have confirmed their first case of White-Nose Syndrome, the fungus associated with WNS was found in mine where bats are known to hibernate. Official for the State of Kentucky announced on Wednesday April 13th that WNS has made its way to their state, making Kentucky the 18th state to confirm WNS. Official found the dead in a cave about 30 miles from Paducah in southwestern Kentucky.

The Bureau of Land Management announced on January 25 2011 that they closed 28 cave in New Mexico to public visitation for the next two years. Pennsylvania Game Commission has gone to tripod-mounted microphones, also known as bat detectors to listen for White Nose Syndrome among bats. These bat detectors are placed outside caves where bats are known to hibernate during the winter months. These detectors then listen for bats flying outside caves.
